Can I take the WV hunter safety course online? ›

Anyone 10 years old or older, may opt to take an approved online hunter education course. During the online course you will periodically take quizzes, and print a practical exam voucher. Once all quizzes are complete, bring this voucher with you to the hands-on / written exam portion.

Study and pass the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources–Approved online course. Study and pass the $34.95 course. Throughout the West Virginia Hunter Ed Course, you'll be tested on what you've learned.

Youth hunters ages eight to 14 must be accompanied by an unarmed, licensed adult (21+ years old), but they don't need a hunting license, stamps or a Hunter Safety Education card. Youth from 15-17 must comply with all license requirements but do not need a Class N or NN stamp.

Hybrid and Online Classes

Courses at Hunter College are taught in several different formats, from the traditional classroom environment, to courses that are conducted entirely online.

Hunter Education Requirements

You are 12-15 years of age. (You must complete hunter education but you do not have to carry your card if accompanied and properly supervised by a licensed adult.)

West Virginia resident landowners may hunt on their own land without obtaining a license. A resident landowner hunting on his/her own land without a license can take the same number of deer as a licensed hunter. A hunter (licensee or landowner) cannot take more than the number of deer allowed in the respective seasons.
