Fencing That's Built to Last

All of the metal components are made of galvanized steel for time-tested, long-lasting use outdoors. For added protection against every day wear and tear, posts are also powder-coated black. Our 6' and 7' tall versions utilize heavy-duty 1 5/8” diameterposts to stand up to even the strongest of dogs. Our 4.5’ tall version for small to medium dogs uses standard 1 3/8” diameter steelposts for ease of installation.

Durable Steel Wire Mesh

Designed specifically for use with pets, our welded wire mesh fencing material is rigid, durable, and strong against impacts. With a breaking strength of over 1000 lbs, the DIY Freestanding Dog Fence System provides a secure barrier for dogs of all sizes.

Square openings measure 1.7” x 1.7” which allows for the least obstructed view that your dog cannot scratch, chew, or fit through. Our heavy-duty welded wire mesh is made of galvanized steel wire with a black vinyl coating that allows it to virtually disappear in the distance.

For reference, the wire strands of the welded wire mesh have a diameter of about 2.2-2.4mm.

Dig-Proof Barrier Included

Worried that your dog might dig their way out underneath the fence? We’ve got you covered!

A welded wire bottom barrier is included with every DIY Freestanding Dog Fence. This creates a physical barrier on the ground leading up to your fence. The wire mesh dig-proof barrier is secured in place to the ground with easy-to-install galvanized ground stakes. The openings in the mesh allow grass to grow up through the barrier, making it nearly invisible after installation!

Combine Fencing Solutions

Dog Proofer fence extension solutions are extremely versatile so they can be installed on an existing fence or wall of nearly any type for dogs that jump or climb over traditional fencing. They can even be used alongside our Freestanding DIY Dog Fence to secure unfenced areas. Give your dog a safe and secure enclosure for the peace of mind you deserve. Read more about how you can combine Dog Proofer systems to create a safe outdoor space for your dog, HERE.

DIYInstallation

Expect a straightforward installation with our unique ground-driven galvanized steel sleeves. No back-breaking post holes need to be dug and concrete is not required for installation. The Dog Proofer DIY Freestanding Dog Fence is intended to be installed by the homeowner, so no specialized tools are needed.

It is not generally considered difficult to complete installation for anyone that considers themselves to be handy (site dependent). If it is something you prefer not to do yourself we would recommend using a local well-regarded handyman. Most fences can be installed in a weekend (or less) and be put to use immediately after completion!

Complimentary Planning & Troubleshooting

Although our systems are designed to be simple to plan and easy to install, we are available to answer any questions you may have regarding your layout or installation. We can talk or email you, or your chosen handyman, through almost any unforeseen obstacles you may run into during installation: contact usfor more information!

Heavy-Duty Access Gates

If access is required through the Freestanding Dog Fence, consider adding a gate to your layout. Gates are offered specifically to the version/height of the fencing selected. Be sure to select the correct gate that matches the height/version of your chosen dog fence system. For example, a 4.5 ft height gate is not compatiblewith a 6 ft height dog fence system.

The height of our heavy-duty gate is available to match the version of the freestanding dog fence purchased:

  • 4.5ft Height Gate (designed for the 4.5ft tall Freestanding Dog Fence System)
  • 6ft Height Gate (designed for the 6ft tall Freestanding Dog Fence System)
  • 6ft Height Gate - Escape Proof Top (designed for the 7ft Tall w/ Escape Proof Top)

Each gate version is available in 36" Width or 60" Width.

Important

If the pet you are seeking to safely contain has a history of aggressive chewing or destructive incidents with rugged materials please contact our planning experts prior to placing your order so we can discuss special considerations. Your satisfaction and your dog(s) safety is our number one priority.

Kit sizes are provided in linear feet of fencing. For example, a 100-foot kit will include the materials and components needed to create up to 100 linear feet of Freestanding Fence, so long as no special circ*mstances or obstacles exist that may require additional components.

A 100-foot kit made into a square would be approximately 24' x 24' (576 square feet) but most customers use the back of their house as a "side" which allows a kit to make a larger overall enclosure and provides easier access for dogs. One example that uses a 100-foot kit off the back of a house would be 27' x 45' (27' out from the house - over 45' and back 27') making an enclosure that is 1,215 square feet. A 200-ft kit off the back of a house could be 63' x 63' (63' out from the house - over 63' and back 63') making an enclosure that is 3,969 square feet.

Keep in mind a Zip Tie Puller/Cutter tool is included with your purchase of a Freestanding Dog Fence System.

If you are unsure about the appropriate kit size or number of components for your project, we suggest reaching out to our expert planning team for assistance!

Please reference "Kit Sizing" for the total number of posts included with each kit.

If your layout includes multiple turns or very specific side lengths, you may need additional posts above and beyond what is provided in the kits. To determine the total number of posts needed or your layout, use these guidelines:

  1. Every endpoint and corner/turn needs a post.
  2. Every abrupt change in grade (up/down) needs a post.
  3. Measure between the posts that need to be in specific locations (see 1&2) and divide by 9' (maximum post spacing) to determine if any additional posts need to be placed between.

If additional posts are needed, they are available for purchase and can be added to your kit.

For ease of installation and delivery, the wire mesh is split into 2 separate parts. There is an upper portion and lower portion with overlap along the middle. This overlap creates additional strength then the overlap is secured together permanently during installation to create one seamless barrier.

Welded wire mesh is secured to posts with our black UV stable 120lb test Heavy Duty Zip Ties.

Fasteners for holding hardware to buildings/structures are not included. Fasteners should be chosen based on the type of material covering the building/structure (wood screw, masonry screw, etc.).
