How do you tighten a leaky Delta faucet? ›

Turn the water supply back on by opening the shutoff valve (under the sink) counterclockwise all the way until it stops or by turning the water back on at the main. Check for leaks around the faucet stem. If it leaks, tighten the bonnet nut until the leaking stops; again, be careful not to overtighten.

Some single-handle Delta® bathroom sink faucets made after 2021 come with a Push-Fit Handle. This feature eliminates the need for a set screw to secure the handle to the faucet. To remove a Push-Fit Handle, align the handle with the spout in the off position, and then pull the handle straight away from the faucet body.

While you can remove a flow restrictor from a showerhead, doing say may cause your shower to violate plumbing codes. The national standard for maximum showerhead flow rate is 2.5 gpm.

Remove the aerator or showerhead and make sure the debris screen is not clogged. Additionally, flushing the system properly will help to reduce the possibility and frequency of occurrences. The tips below will help you avoid problems with low flow.

Investigate the cap and adjusting ring by taking a good look. If the faucet seems to be leaking from there, try tightening the adjusting ring with needle-nose pliers. If that doesn't stop the leak, you'll need to replace the faucet's seats and springs.

If your faucet is dripping water after it is shut off, this may be indicative of a loose or damaged seat washer. Issues with washers is common in sink faucets leaking. The seat washer screw can become loose from repeated use, causing the faucet to drip water or chatter.

What tool is used to remove Delta faucet handle? ›

Inside the hole is a set screw that can be loosened with a hex key, also known as an Allen wrench. In general, handle pairs use a 3/32" hex key, and single-handle faucets use a 1/8" hex key. Getting the correct size is important to not strip the screw.

If the set screw is stripped, try a rubber band on the end of the Allen key. It may fill the gap enough to get a grip. If the screw will not turn with the hex key after doing all of the above, the next step is to try a screw extractor or drill the screw out.
